After retiring from ballet, she danced jazz and tap for 4 years with Tapestry Dance Company and modern for 5 with Kathy Dunn Hammrick Dance Company. During and in between which Andrea has freelanced as a dancer and an independent choreographer and has been invited to perform in many dance festivals in the Austin area. Her choreography has been well received on professional stages as well as at student competitions; always striking an emotional chord in her audiences through pure joy and musicality. Although she retired from the stage in 2015, she continues to share her love and passion for this marvelous artform as a teacher, rehearsal director, coach and choreographer. As a teacher, Andrea's philosophy is that with proper strength and body alignment, a dancer can have effortless power and ultimately tons of fun dancing. One of her greatest talents as an instructor is her ability to spot the weaknesses or alignment issues in each dancer and offer corrections tailored to each dancer's specific needs. Andrea also has a vast understanding of body mechanics to promote the best coordination and ease of movement. Her motto is, “I’m not going to teach you to have great technique, I’m going to teach you to use great technique.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Guest Faculty - Louie Williams - House</image:title>
<image:caption>Louie Williams was born and raised in Austin Texas. He started his dance training at fourteen years old where he received experience in technique at Dance Institute, and was coached by his director Linda Holland and his mother, Andrea Williams. His remaining years of high school from 2016-2020 were spent at competitions and conventions, training to eventually join the USC Kaufman School of Dance’s class of 2024. There he has worked in process with artists such as Desmond Richardson, Dwight Rhoden, William Forsythe, Doug Varone, Hope Boykin, Saleemah E Knight, and Micaela Taylor. Louie has teaching experience at Dance Institute as well as in the Kaufman Connections program, which assists public schools in the LA area by teaching hip hop and social dance practices. House is a style of footwork and rhythm that developed in the late 1900s that encompasses all varieties of movement but especially the African diaspora. It gets its title from the Warehouse, the original dance club in Chicago where house emerged. House is a phenomenally fun way to express oneself through the music, and has a vast range for creative freedom.</image:caption>

<image:title>Guest Artists Spring - Sofie Bertolini of Ballet San Antonio - The Firebird</image:title>
<image:caption>Since joining Ballet San Antonio in 2014, Sofie Bertolini has enjoyed an incredibly diverse range of roles. Some of her favorites include Juliet in Edward Liang’s Romeo and Juliet, Carmen and Giselle in their namesakes, and Lucy in Dracula. She has also had the pleasure of performing featured roles in George Balanchine’s Rubies, Ben Stevenson’s Swan Lake, Bruce Wells’ Beauty and the Beast, and Dominic Walsh’s The Whistling. Hailing from Austin, TX, Bertolini began her training at age four at Austin Dance Academy under Arletta Howard-Logan and later Ballet Austin under Bill Piner and Lynne Short, with additional training at Boston Ballet and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. After becoming a Trainee with Ballet Austin under Michelle Martin and Stephen Mills in 2009, Bertolini’s professional career continued with smaller workshop-oriented companies also based in Austin, TX, where she was able to explore her interest in choreography as well as performing featured roles in both classical and non-classical works.  Rivard Report’s Tami Kegley writes, “Special kudos go to Sofie Bertolini for her sass and vinegar. She not only performed [The Whistling] immaculately, she brought it alive with toughness and humor that was sublime.”</image:caption>
